They are on vacation time. If they are rated then you can let them run out of vacation time and get points. But if you just want to end them press the abort button.
timeout?
... Two of the games have said for a couple of days that my openent has "a few minutes" left to move. Well, as I said it has been days that it has said that. Is there anything I can do to just end these games without resigning ...
If you do not see an "Abort" button then check your settings http://www.chess.com/home/echess_settings.html
Perhaps this is not checked "Auto-Win on Time:".
I would appreciate feedback if anyone has the time. I got a game. My opponent had White. He never moved. I waited 72 hours, got the "few minutes" to move routine - nothing. The record of the game or non-game has disappeared. It's as though I and he never contracted to play a game. It just disappears and the admin. says that this is a groovy thing. I disagree. At the least, I find it shows a lack of respect for your opponent. If I contract to play, I play. I am of advanced age and don't always think incisively. Where am I wrong?

chesschappie, yes, it's rude for your opponent to join a game with you and never play. But what should the chess.com admin staff do about it? They can't force him to make moves. If no move was ever played in the game, it seems like a reasonable thing to just erase it from existence.

that kind of thing happens when you play chess online. it's happened to me before, so i know how you feel. but there really isn't anything you can do about it. most people on here will not do that, so when that kind of situation pops up, just ignore it and move on to the next game. after all, there's not much you can do about it.
if you're really bothered by it, you could always go to a chess club and play some OTB chess.
Thanks for the feedback. On the OTB option, I was thinking that if I played a tourney and sat down as Black and waited the requisite amount of time and had a TD start White's clock and my opponent was a no-show, the result would be different. Thanks for responding. I will just chalk it up.

In a tournament, the result of the game will be recorded as a win for you. This has to be done because the result effects the rest of the tournament.
In an OTB tournament the result is recorded as a forfeit win and no rating adjustment results. Likewise in chess.com tournament, a game with no moves results in no ratings change even though the forfeit result affects the tournament standings.

I am relatively new to this site, and I have about 15 games going on right now. Two of the games have said for a couple of days that my openent has "a few minutes" left to move. Well, as I said it has been days that it has said that. Is there anything I can do to just end these games without resigning, it seems obvious that the people don't want to play, because they haven't made even one move. In one game I am white and I moved once, the other person never did. The other game I am black and the game has zero moves.
