MAke urself happy even if you already are
Tips and tricks to help with confidence.

Back when I played in over-the-board tournaments, part of my pre-game preparation for critical games was to take a few minutes to first play over some earlier game that I was particularly happy with or proud of. This would put me in a confident, optimistic frame of mind.

I tend to take some deep breaths in and out to help get myself in the mindset. If I ever make a mediocre or outright bad move, I say to myself, "OK, I've had a rough game so far, but now it is time to rally put my head in the game."

You have to be okay with the possibility that you might lose the game. Not *too* okay, like you should be emotionally invested in your result. But you should have an understanding that you may lose, or draw, or blunder, or choke, and that it’s just one game out of many thousands.

one of my classmates said something that I liked a lot. "you just do it", he said. When you are about to jump from a high dive, thinking "oh no! what if it hurts?" is useless. You either jump or you don't.
When you see someone in a chess game, think "I can win this" instead of "I can probably lose this".
After all, the glass is always half full.

Also like dpnorman said, knowing that you will lose some games, and it will be ok.

when you ask yourself " what if i lose?", shut up. Say to yourself that you will win, even tho you are in a losing position, no matter what.
and a few drinks, maybe lol.
Does any of you have any good tips and/or tricks that will help with my confidence when I play games/moves?
