tips to avoid blunders

I almost always review my blitz games with engine after finishing them, and I have found that I make stupid 1-move blunders in more than a half of my games. This results in making generally well-played +3 positions equal or losing an equal game instantly.

I understand that everyone makes blunders, but I find my amount of them quite excessive (and very annoying of course). I would very much appreciate advices from 2400+ players on how to minimize them.

Play Rapid instead.

I am mostly interested in blitz/bullet for now.

blunders are like my meal whenever i play chess, not just blitz and bullet. in bullet i make blunders a lot if i desperately try to win on time. the worst losses were when i played random pre moves and quick moves in opening, and made blunders instead. i did that because i had lost on time in bullet games in winning positions a few times. i also am not into rapid. i don't like long chess. maybe i can tolerate sometimes but not often.

Let me give an example from my latest game. After qa8-qb8 I find during the review qc6+ qxe6 winning a piece within 2 seconds. Instead in the game I played absolutely useless qxb8 losing all advantage, managed to blunder again later to completely lost position. Thanks to opps mistakes I managed to equalize and flag him after, but these 2 blunders was the most important part of the game for me.

Look at this 5 minute blitz game by Fischer

See his comment on his 30th move:
"At this moment my hand hovered over White’s Pawn on e4, but at the last second I realized that 30...Nxe4 is answered by 31 Qxe4 and White wins."
Conclusion: always check your intended move is no blunder before you play it, even in blitz.

Chess with blunders are boring because if one person is blundering and the other isn’t that’s boring if both are blundering that’s interesting if both are not blundering that’s very interesting
