No problem, moving on.
Titled get's rating automatically?

By the way, I think that really is Anand in his profile because chess.com invited him to do that vote chess game a while back, remember? I'm sure that's when he got his membership as part of that process. He just hasn't played any games on here, not that he would get a rating for.

If your titled you get free membership Harry; don't get too worked up. He's been here a month, and he's no where near titled.
why should he get worked up?
Secondly, you realize harry was wrong?
I think this is what you dont like Tal, as it speaks to a larger problem then mere ratings on a chess site.

That's correct.

I don't mind special privileges, but ratings are corrupted when special privileges include free ratings. Of course, this site has already corrupted the rating system by assigning initial ratings to everyone rather than allowing unrated players to be unrated and let the rating system work it out.

Harry's been here a lot longer than you Tal. He thought you were going someplace else with this, as did I.

It definitely shows because I have been watching some resident titled players play their games... often they are reckless making errors in their position ect. Certainly not a reflection of how difficult it really is to achieve excellent quality play. They often look out of practice and often playing hope chess than quality chess.

I'm not wrong. The reason those famous GMs get their rating so high in the first place is because chess.com has already created their accounts for them. Its always [first name][last name] and the first letter is captitalized
Chess.com makes their accounts for them? Are you absolutely sure about that? Something seems a bit odd how chess.com can take it upon themselves to make an account for someone. Doesn't seem legit.

Well regardless, they still get their rating automatically, whether chess.com went out their way to make a profile for them or not.

Yes I'm sure. Heres another example:

So what are you saying? A cushy nice profile should be set up for what... all top rated players until they decide they arrive here to actually play games?
I honestly don't think chess.com just takes it upon themselves to create a page for the players in hindsight of never knowing whether they will play at the site. More likely, they created the profile for them while prepering events, like the world chess or even death matches. I don't believe they do this without permission of the actual player.

Its only famous players, not ordinary FMs and CMs
Define famous, I know some famous FM's and CM's.

Its called professional curtesy. If you owned a restaurant, would your mother get a free meal now and then?? Why don't you Google famous. Your too young to understand.

My point is that well known titled players get their accounts created for them, and their ratings are set. However, not all titled players have their accounts created for them, and so not all titled players get their ratings automatically
Can you show us an example of a titled player having to go through the official motions?

I'm not too young at all, I'm in my 30's thank you.

But they do create the accounts, and the proof is right here. Search up any well known super GM, and their account will be here
Seems a bit strange to be honest.

What do you mean by "official motions"?
Like what everyone else has to do, get their rating the hard way. And I truely am inclined to believe, chess.com rating is harder than the real life scenario. Plus, you encounter cheats frequently here which doesn't help.
I agree SmylovFan, but i'd bet good money that They would give carlson a starting rating of 3,000 if that meant he'd be an active playing member.
