TO BE BANNED OR NOT THAT IS THE QUESTION

At 11:10,5 th Oct tonight durng my game an alert flashed on the
screen explaining that i have been warned by the Moderator/admin and
that i will be kicked off or banned.  i was outraged as i had done absolutely
nothing wrong, except typed 'Finger slipped'as it did after i'd made an
unintentional move because (wait for it) my finger had slipped on the mouse.

My opponent grtaciously offered a draw. i texted him back
explaining that i had been warned by moderator for goodness knows what.
My opponent agreed with me saying that i hadn't been talking.

After texting him that message i get another alert saying i've been muted for 30 mins.

By then all the enjoyment for the game had long since dissapated.

I've read the rules a few times. As far as i can see i think im being persecuted for
no good reason. Moderator, Whatever and who ever you are, grow up, stop being a little bullying Hitler. If you are mature and confident you'd explain yourself openly instead of hiding behind that non - descripte badge. Remember, Chess.Com needs me more than i need it.

Come on let's all be adult about this and have a proper open discussion in the forum.
Does anyone else think there're being persecutedor is it because i is black?.  'Jobsworth'

I think you have made acquaintance with the automated mod in live chess. To steer clear of that, simply try to avoid typing things that such an automated mod could respond to.

It's probably worth sending a message to support though. Theautomated moderator (if that's what it is) may just be a bit too zealous. I remember when such things first appeared ... there is a town in the north of England called Scunthorpe, any mention of which would incur their wrath (you can probably work out why!)

If it's a similar case the admins may be able to tune it

Slipping the black finger and chatting about it is a good way to get kicked out of any public place, my friend, regardless of the other person's response or acceptance.  Consider yourself warned... mini-hitler is everywhere and nowhere, at the same time, all the time, and he is watching you!

..but the grown up side of me says: probably an automated glitch of some kind or it might be possible that someone did falsely report you and the system is automated (have no clue).  But, if it happens again or you're really concerned about it you can go here: http://support.chess.com/index.php?_m=tickets&_a=submit and get to the bottom of it.

The race card should always be played first, even against " bots "

I'm pretty sure if you (or I) died tomorrow, chess.com wouldn't notice.  Don't get to thinking you're someone important.

I'm not really sure why a town in the north of England would come up in chat in the middle of a chess game, but ok...

in the mid 90s i ollied over a 4 stair on my skateboard at the provo tabernacle in provo, utah and my friend joe said, "that was sick."  i wonder if there's a relation.

Andrew, you weren't warned for typing the words "finger slipped" you were warned for typing two swear words.

It wasn't a person who warned you, it was the auto swear filter. It auto warned for the first swear word, then auto muted when you typed the second one.

It works on context not content.

I know the swear filter can be a little sensitive, but on the whole it does a good job filtering out alot of abusive language -

So you created a thread moaning about being muted when you had typed swear words into the censor? Dude, come on.

EDIT: @kohai

"It works on context not content."

If only that were true. Wink

I once did this accidentaly in a live chat that gave 1 warning and then 1 mute.  Unfortunately I broke my message (a joke) into two parts that both contained a taboo word and typing 80+ wpm I'd typed and sent the punchline before I realized I'd been warned.

during after a live game which i lost with a good friend i wrote, in jest, 'i'm better than her' as there were two viewers, both friends as well, and i got the ban warning as well! i was flabbergasted to say the least...

"Where are you from ?"

"I'm from Scunthorpe"

<ban>

was the usual pattern.

Avatar of kohai

ahhhh i see where the problem is there..

Break up the word scunthorpe  ( word filter detected the swear word within scunthorpe).
