Online opponents are way way way stronger than any OTB opponent especially if it's blitz or bullet. The blitz pool is the strongest of all the chess pools 2300 blitz is like 2200 imo. The best way to overcome them, is to study constantly and eventually you will destroy them. You also need to focus on consistency of your play. 1400's are bad and so are 1700's they just seem good. If your playing awfully stop playing until your playing better. Playing badly reinforces bad chess habits. I would say I haven't done any classical time controls I'm certain otb classical players are super strong but they probably have tons of computer lines prepared, so I wouldn't really call that strength. Strength= amount of moves played with minimum book.

It's a shame the OP felt the need to close their account instead of making some simple changes but I can understand how someone like the OP who has clearly worked hard to improve would become disillusioned. I'm not bashing this website and everyone can get a lot out of it for free but the moderation and customer service side is very inconsistent. Questions in the support and feedback forums that go unanswered is poor as is removing features without giving any notice. It seems the attitude is like it or lump it which isn't the friendliest approach especially for paid subscribers.
