Having lived most of my life with 30,000 nuclear warheads and the means to deliver them in the Soviet Union, I'm not going to worry about the Iranians having six or seven.

Thing is, they don't need to take away any body's guns to get what they want. If you said "Nobody can drive except for Emergency and Police" you wouldn't take away everybody's car who owned one. All you do is go to the 14 main gas distribution centres, and stop the supply of gas to the nation. they just have to shut off the ammo supply. Luckily, I am getting 500 rounds of 9 mil for Christmas!

it says USA is number 8 for gun murders.

knives are usefull for cooking and juggling, guns are only usefull for killing.

seems like many people want to be able to buy a gun legally because if they were illegal people would buy them illegally anyway. isnt that what happens now with drugs and underage drinking and prostitution. if you make them all legal that would cut down on organised crime, and if your gonna get shot someday anyway you might as well live it up now.

Spair: Iran stopped developing nuclear weapons programs 5 years ago. US Intelligence agencies admitted yesterday Iran poses no nuclear threat whatsoever.

It's all over the news again today, but notice that there is no accountability.
What about the lies they have been telling us for the last four years about how "Iran has not stopped its program to develop an atomic bomb." Why haven't we heard from one politician in the race for president, Democrat or Republican, about this great big lie they that they have been telling for years? When will they apologize for actually threatening to use nucelar weapons against this country that is doing us no harm?

Back on topic;

It is good to see so many of you in support of private gun ownership. The saying they can have my gun when they pry it from my cold dead hands isn't from a fairy tale or some childrens story.

But this is just the point Harb. That Iran does not and should not have nuclear bombs. It is good news that they seem to have stopped production. In fact no-one should indeed posess those ultimate deadly weapons, in an ideal world. I am glad you seem to agree that it is good news about Iran.

As to the lies from your politicians - well this is another issue. Go vote all of them out!!! lol!

But just for argument sake - I hope you do not try and bring them down with your guns!

the policy for this site involves: we can discuss at will, but have to stay away from politics, religion and some other topics. I think advocating that liberals are dumb comes close to the limits. Erik will close the thread unless we stay out of politics.

You also forgot the second half of the saying about how if republicans had a heart they would be democrats.

Guns don't kill people; people kill people...

And people with guns kill a lot more people.

I don't think we should amend our constitution. I agree that too harsh of gun control could have repercussions. But we can make it more difficult to buy guns, can't we? Why not an age limit like alcohol, or driving? Maybe, one per household. Maybe you have to be the primary caretaker of a family. Maybe, you have to own property, or have a certain length rental contract. The guy at Virginia Tech was in a dorm. If you think back to why the right to bear arms was added, I don't think they were thinking of college students in student housing. They were thinking of someone in a house, with a family, of a certain age, etc. Just a thought.

This is the trouble with people - they enter an argument and then start labelling others ( eventhough people who are 'liberals' have nothing to be ashamed of, if it means the betterment of our world ). That is one other reason why guns should perhaps be taken out of free circulation and eradicated off the black market if that is ever possible. By evaluating people here the likelihood that they use a gun to hurt you ( if they have one ) seems very real.

This argument is pointless, both pro-ownership and anti-ownership apparently fail to see to the crux of this matter. I turn on the news, and there is a overpublicized story about how the ownership of guns caused XYZ Catastrophe.

What these reporters fail to see, however, is that the gun did not shoot itself. A gun is simply a tool, and the human being is the catalyst. If we take firearms away from the general population, that means that only criminals will have a source through which to obtain these guns, leaving the majority of the population unprotected. I don't know about you, but if the military in any country bombed my house, I wouldn't yell at the bomb, I would yell at the military.
