With ‘theoreticians’ I mean the same as it is explained by Bo Hansen and the chessbase dvd about 4 types of players. I would like to know some top 50/100 players who are active ‘theoreticians’, so I can follow and learn from their style. Any suggestions?

According to Chessbase DVD they are categorized as 'pragmatics'

I do not know about DVDs, but Maxime Vachier-Lagrave is the leading authority on the theory of the Najdorf and the Grünfeld and he plays these all the time against everybody, with no fear of preparation by the opponent in confidence that they cannot out-prepare him.
Fabiano Caruana is well known to engage in theoretical discussions where his extraordinary deep preparation often prevails.
Here is a clash between both:

Caruana had prepared deeper, but Vachier-Lagrave was able to hold his own on the board. However he lost a table base drawn position.
