Tournament Class D or C

Hi everyone,

 

I recently got back into playing chess at tournaments and I have a question.  If I'm rated 860 could I still play in the C category -1500 ? (D is -1200)  I was thinking if I win at least two games in a tourny my rating would increase faster than if I play against other 800 or 900's.  And would the game difficulty still be playable.
