Tournament Formats.

Can any one inform me about the verious formats(like 5->1, 10->3+,5(1)->2+ etc.) used in chess tournament. & what does those means?

There is tournament help but it is outdated, not addressing the number of simultaneous games per opponent.

5(1)->2+

5 = Max group size 5.

(1) = 1 game per opponent at a time. Once the first game is over the second one starts.  (one game per opponent starts immediately) vs. (2) (both games per opponent start immediately)

->2 = Two players go on the the next round if any. # Advance:

+ = Tiebreaks No. Without the + is Tiebreaks Yes.

Note the formats "5->1, 10->3+" without bracketed numbers are not valid. They are incorrectly displayed in the Current Tournaments area here.
