how about a tournament anyone game for a tournament?

people keep posting things like this, but I never hear from them again.  How do you set up a tournament?  Is it just an independent action by the players, or does it have to go through the site?

i would think it would be an independent action if we have enough people we just issue challenges like normal and play like normal. so thats two people anyone else feel like joining?

I know one other guy on the site who might play.  What is the minimum amount of players we need?  Will as few as 8 due?

yeah 8 should be enough because its up to us how many people and the winner will recieve a trophy from everyone involved in the tournament as well as points issued from chess.com like normal so not only is it good practice but if you win you have a trophy showcase to show for it

Alright, I'll message the guy and ask him.  Probably know by tomorrow.  But that will only make four and I am already playing a game against him, are you going to send me a message or something if you get enough people?  Or do you want me to just check back over the next few days?

cool tyk i thought you might want in hey its good practice and there is no minimum rating required its just for fun and learning plus like i said in the name of sportsmanship everyone who plays will need to award the winner of the tourney a trophy and points will be earned like normal for winning this is simply a series of challenges and we a r rapidly gaining the players needed

allow me to make sure there is no confusion about this. the points are recieved in the normal fashion by the rating system here at chess.com as these will be normal games in every sense it is just that a bunch of us are getting together and playing at the same time the trophies are given by the players as a reward for whoever wins the tournament and at their own accord you are not forced to do so but in the matter of sportsmanship it would be something to have to show for your hard work. this is just for fun. however the tournament will be on a 1 move per 3 day maximum as there will be plenty of games to be played. if you should lose you are not neccessarily out there will be a second chance bracket. i will keep track of all games played and the order in which they are played.
