and s/t else. The Nobel Commission charitably gave him the prize in 1922 cuz no one qualified for it in 1921...including him !

Hmm. I guess compared to Optimissed I have the brains of a soap dish. Sure it’s a soap dish that forced the concession that the foundation of this certainty lay in faith in his personal observations, but a soap dish nonetheless!

I think if we have the goldfish which can drive a car play the hedgehog that can operate heavy machinery, the result of the game will be the answer to our question.

Please stop this.

@Optomissed You are annoying, you know that? If truth "squashes" independent thinking, maybe you are thinking wrong. You claim to be smarter than Einstein by 10 iq points, The only use your iq points will do for you is make fire when you rub them together, because you dont USE the points you supposedly have.

Marks1420

If I were a goldfish, I would want nothing more than to not remember that.

@optimissed - now that one definitely gets the prize for the worst argument you’ve made. Nobody is saying “hey kid, don’t think creatively.” What we are saying is that you can imagine the most fantastical ideas, but if they involve an empirical claim, they can’t be considered true until they stand up to scientific scrutiny.

We wouldn’t have told little Baby Einstein to eschew daydreaming about the nature of the relationship between space and time, we would’ve applauded it. What we wouldn’t have done is concluded that it was true until it withstood scientific review.

Do you think Baby Einstein and Baby Yoda could’ve been mistaken for each other? I do.

And all the people obsessed by Einstein are just ridiculous.

ya know whats ridiculous? you making fun of a man who did way more than you and claiming his iq is lower.

That's been proven by the dartboard thing, among other subjects.

Taking a page from Ponz's playbook, I see wink.png.  You gave an opinion, without proof of any kind.

Be sure to cite your evidence with a credible source, or else you won't receive full credit.

You’re kinda funny @marks. I approve.

Actually, “chess is a draw” is, in fact, an empirical claim. It either is or it isn’t, and theoretical it can be proven true or false. Just because the ancients didn’t have access to the technology to prove it “the earth revolves around the sun” any less of an empirical claim to them than to us.

There are also plenty of independent thinkers who are completely wrong. One could argue that Alex Jones is an independent thinker, and I can’t argue against that. One could also say that his arguments are very creative. Independence and creativity not bounded by the scientific method can lead to some pretty, umm, interesting conclusions.

Finally, I don’t think that either side of this question is inherently more fun than the other except that inasmuch as decisive games are generally (though not universal) more fun than drawn ones, I’m taking the W on this one. ☺️

Alex Jones is an ultra right wing, ultra loud conspiracy theorist with a talk show in the US. He believes that the government has weapons that control the weather, that chemicals in the water are turning frogs gay, and that Hillary Clinton is running a child sex ring. All are very creative and show a real independence of thought.

I think, if every possible game would be calculated, then there should be many games, where white wins, thou black plays best possible moves. Why? Because white is one move ahead.

I use the word “actually” here as it is most commonly used: to suggest that contrary to what is stated, the opposite is true. Example: they said that hedgehogs can operate heavy machinery, but actually this is impossible.

Nikki   I DID NOT start this forum about whether or not people agree with me! You are simply telling a lie.

The forum is about a true or false question  It should be obvious that a lot of people will say they don't know and some will say chess is not a draw.

Ponzie: I really have no idea what you are talking about. I’m kind of scared of you right now.

Nikki   is English your 2nd language?  While I give a whole lot of evidence about chess being a draw--this forum is "True or False Chess is a Draw with Best Play from Both Sides"

This forum not  a tally of who agrees with me or who disagrees with me?

Don't be afraid--I have a dog named "Niki"!tongue.pngtongue.png
