True or False Chess is a Draw with Best Play from Both Sides

Yes. The evidence is mounting that chess is a forced win for white too. So the odds are pretty good it's going to be one of those two.

...and was there a green flash ?

goody !...chess is quite solvable indeed.

Will the evidence for a draw be stronger when this thread passes 10K posts?
Inquiring minds want to know.

zborg ever since this forum has started the evidence for a draw has become stronger and stronger.
no reason for that to stop.

tjhere is a lot more to correspondence chess than many people think. However at the highest level they draw with each other and thus that kind of chess is on the wane. They cannot get past the obvious [that chess is a draw]

Just watched this video I found here regarding the number of possible chess games as calculated various ways, very interesting! Ponz now has me convinced that the chances that chess is a forced win are almost zero, but it is not possible to be certain when considering such large numbers! https://youtu.be/Km024eldY1A

u haft remember...fonzie doesnt even know how many babies hes made, as he has been around the checkered block 64 times. so for him to know that chessed izza......ohhh nvm.

I believe from 62 years of playing chess and thousands of my own games that chess is a draw unless one side or the other makes a mistake.
I would suggest that out of billions of chess games that one cannot find even one game which was won or lost without one of the players making a mistake. If anyone thinks they can find such a game please post it here.
I feel as though the argument is flawed. Simply because you can't define a perfect game. There is no perfect engine, and there will always be room for improvement in engines as well.

its iterative. ur feeding a result back into the original equation. THAT result yields a closer answer. but its far from exact. and no time soon. trust me.
we da ppl of mister chess dot com, in order to form a more perfect chess game, insure domestic arguments, provide for seething disagreements, promote personal opinions, and secure the blessings of those who take our unionized side - doopity dee...yee !
goodbye.

which begs a me, does white REALLY have a advantage by moving 1st ? (idw a/o else begging a me cuz they cant have it)

My own feeling is that White's first-move advantage consists of the fact that his path to the draw is wider than Black's. A mistake that might lose the game with Black will only hand over the advantage with White.

In chess, there is a general consensus among players and theorists that the player who makes the first move (White) has an inherent advantage. Since 1851, compiled statistics support this view; White consistently wins slightly more often than Black, usually scoring between 52 and 56 percent.

Yes, and this supports my view, above. It requires a bigger mistake to lose with White than with Black.
The real problem with the "chess is a draw with best play theory" is that in all the myriad possible chess games there only has to be one combination where white (or black) has a forced win for the whole theory to fall flat. The question will not be solved until chess is solved, maybe never? Chess is a draw with best play is just an opinion not a fact yet, even though most of us, including me, "believe" that chess is a draw with best play.
