How long do turn based games usually last? Do they go on for months?

Between 2 weeks and a month would probably be around my average per game.

Measure in months not days.  If not you'll join the legion of members complaining that a game with a 3 DAYS per move limit, plus vacation time, has not ended within 2 weeks.
