Unexpected pleasure

I have now played 600+ games (60 min time control). By most standards this is not a big number, but it apparently is big enough that I've got several opponents that show up repeatedly, so I'm developing a history with a handful of people. It's an added dimension that I'm really enjoying. Today, I played a guy for the 4th time. I went into this game with a draw and two losses. His rating is lower than mine, but you'd never know it the way he plays me. He just seems to own me. We had a fair number of pieces on the board and he a lot more time on his clock than I did, so when he offered a draw, I accepted. Anyway, I'm finding that playing familiar names makes it even more fun....which I did not see coming.

It’s why I enjoy rematches. I always felt chess is about playing a series of games with your opponent.

It's really interesting.....I can't beat this guy and when I see his name come up, my heart sinks a little and I hope for a draw. There are others who are rated near me, or even above me, who I seem to beat most of the time. Hard to explain....but that's probably what makes it interesting.

I seldom have time for two games in a row, so I always feel bad when someone asks for a rematch and I can't, but now I figure that I'll see them again soon, even if not today.

Most will agree, longer time controls is best for improvement.

I force myself to play 15/10 because that is FIDEs rapid time control.

Longer time controls, I take it offline.

Probably getting the same opponents because not many people play 60 min online

If I win I rematch. If I lose, I don't. :-)

Probably so, and I'm fine with that!
