I do not have the upgrades for chess.com but they look like robbery to me, spending a hundred dollers for good access? Please tell me if these upgrades have any real use.
JustOneUSer
They do if you want to grow to play chess a lot better, if your more a casual player, then less so.

Robbery is defined in the law as an unlawful taking by force or threat of force.  The upgrades on offer are entirely volitional and consensual.

This site never charged you a dime for your membership. How can you in good conscience use this site for your enjoyment and in the same call them crooks?

You are guest inside their house. Have some respect.

Joseph would be proud.

I would say that *taxes* are a much better example of robbery that an optional membership.

Cherub!!! You're back!!!

Cherub_Enjel

Yeah, the break was long enough lol

How do you propose to fund your roads, schools, fire suppression, law enforcement, etc., without taxes?  Do you wish to revert to a state of nature where the most powerful among us rule?  Be careful what you wish for, @Cherub_Enjel.

if you want to get better, its worth it. it doesnt make your account any more fun or anything of that nature but unlimited tactics and training videos etc is certainly very powerful. long story short, if you want to get good do it if you are bored hoping itll make your account more fun not so much

DrSpudnik

It only costs about $30/year to get rid of the ads and get access to most things. It's totally worth it.

Welcome to capitalism.....that being said, I'll wager you spend $0.30 a day on items that are utterly worthless when compared to the benefits of studying chess...

The lessons, tactics, drills and other resources are really good in quality. The subscription is totally worth it. If you join a chess class, you will end up paying more.

"Robbery"? Is someone forcing you to pay? surprise.png

Maybe start with the little yellow "gold" star membership if you can afford it and drop it if you don't like it.
