USCF Phishing Attack?

Just wandering if anyone else got an email from "USCF" asking to call some number, within 5-days, to verify their accounts. Now, I know names and USCF numbers are public information... but wondering how they got my email.

Below is the email with some information remove.

As a member of US Chess, we need a quick verification from you. The US Chess Federation recently launched a comprehensive member data verification project.

We've assembled the information currently listed in our member files and need your help to confirm the accuracy of your record and fill in any information gaps.

That's why it's so important to call 1-877-***-**** within the next 5 days.

Verification is quick and easy. Many members also share stories of their experience to help celebrate the history of the US Chess Federation at the same time.

Your prompt assistance is greatly appreciated. Please call 1-877-***-**** to verify your US Chess member data today.

US CHESS FEDERATION gave them your info. If anything subjected their memebers to this.

I didn't reply, and won't be replying to PCI. They sent an email and an ugly yellow card.

I was going to email Dan Lucas, to 'complain' , but it would be pointless.

I Let my membership lapse. USCF doesn't support us adults anyway.

I also got that yellow USCF verification postcard, but I didn't call the number.

What are they going to do if we don't respond? Cancel our USCF membership which we already paid for?

They're also violating the Americans with Disabilities Act by requiring a phone call with no other options. What if a member is deaf? Or can't speak? They should have provided a way to respond via the web site or by sending in a form.

I received numerous requests as well. It's odd. I called the tel# once , and I didn't like how it felt so I hung up. Seems like a scam or borderline scam.

It probably had to do with the "USCF Oral History Project." I remember hearing about it but was never contacted likely because my membership lapsed at the time.

No they aren't stop spouting stuff you have no idea about. Deaf and mute people have very easy access to telecommunications services via TRS. Not to mention the ADA has zero to do with voluntary organizations like USCF

If you don't know what you are talking about you should not make a fool of yourself by making crap up and spewing t on the internet
