Use of an engine should be allowed for low level players when the opponent plays the Stafford Gambit
I'm sure you can find a tutorial on how to counter it somewhere
Exactly. This is the only opening which requires exact memorisation of several lines in order to stay alive, which is why engine play should be allowed to counter it. Otherwise, the Stafford Gambit is destroying low level chess play.
#5 nope there are many many other openings which require precise play
besides why even play Nxe5, d4 and Bc4 are perfectly fine alternatives which are available
also; if they memo the lines; then its only fair that you have to memo the lines as well
You're basically suggesting that it would be fairer for lower-rated players to cheat in the opening.
If they struggle against the Stafford, then they should study it. The players that use the Stafford shouldn't be penalized because some lower-rated players don't know how to play against it.
how will they learn?
if they dont lose to the stafford time and time agian they wont find a way over it or learn it and start not losing in 10 moves
I am grateful that Eric preaches the Stafford. Got me a lot of easy wins with White. Unfortunately at my level only few people are willing to start being a pawn down, betting that White doesn't know a refutation.
Any more openings you would like the engines to be allowed in?
Englund Gambit or the Kings Gambit maybe?
Maybe any player belopp say 1500 should be allowed to use engines in the first ten moves?
Jokes aside, here is a novel idea, learn some lines against The Stafford Gambit and try to keep them in your own head?
It has simply become too easy for bad players to learn the opening moves of the Stafford Gambit or write them down in order to score cheap wins. I personally blame Eric for this. In order to counteract this, I think that players under 1500 should be allowed to use a game engine for the opening moves only if the black player employs the Stafford Gambit. This should make things fairer for the opening until reaching the mid-game.
