using a chess engine

I have started reading a chess book and using a chess engine called scid as well. What i am trying to do is play the positions in the book into the chess engine so that i will be able to save the positions that i like and return to them easily when i need. the problem is i press save game in the game menu but there seems no way to load the game again when i need. Are there any scid users out there willing to help?!

or is there anyway other than a chess engine to do this... like a program that saves the game and allows me to save and load?

With SCID all you need to do is go to Tools -> Export Current Game -> Export game to PGN File. Then, whenever you want to load that game, go to Tools -> Import One PGN Game.

thank you ! thank u! thank u! ... it worked!! now i can go ahead with my reading!

You can also use File -> New to create a new database, enter your game, then hit CTRL-S (or Game -> Save (Add new Game)) to save the game to your database. Then you can use the Game menu to start a new game- each time you save, you are adding to your own database of games. When you edit a game, use CTRL-R (or Game -> Save (Replace Game)) to replace the old version with the new.

SCID takes some getting used to, but you can do an immense amount with it!

I just can't find anything to say except.thank you! and you are right about scid needing time to get used to! i wish they had made it more simple!
