Using Computer Analysis?

So, most strong players advise against using computer analysis except on rare occasion. They suggest one improve by analyzing one's own games.

Here is my question: I have been playing less than three months now. Although my own analysis can sometimes reveal a missed tactic, hanging piece, etc I am not yet good enough to analyze positionally, strategically, and so on.

So, I do run my games through a computer (Tarrasch) just to see how it evaluates my moves. Whenever it shows me as having lost an advantage, then I go try to see what is wrong with my move.

My question is: Am I making a mistake (as a beginner) using a computer like this? How do you use computers to analyze games?

The standard wisdom seems to be to analyze yourself until you're way past the point of diminishing returns and only then throw an engine at the game.
