using disconnect to cheat
Lost 2 games today due to disconnection. My internet does only disconnect while I am playing a live game on chess.com. Never while browsing sites. Has someone got a hacking tool or something to force the other player to disconnect?
While playing in a tournament on RHP, an opposing player ran out of time. No timeout skull appeared, then all of a sudden, 24 hours were added to his clock. This happened and saved his game from a loss twice. Has anyone else run into someone having their clock reset, avoiding a timeout loss? Can a moderator do this for a player?

here's the deal for all you doubters: if you close the chess.com app during a game and let it stay closed until the clock on your opponent's side decides you have abandoned them, they gain the winning points, but you in turn lose nothing. i.e there is no penalty to you for disconnecting. if you are losing, then this is a desirable alternative (to some rude players out there apparently) to actually losing the game and, therefore points. this is a closed case. i am amazed at how much people on here insult each other about being "sore losers" or whatnot. the truth is, chess.com doesnt penalize disconnectors, and that is the crux of the matter and people who are losing can take advantage of this.
johnlisbonwood,
I totally agree with you.
I am also completely upset with these cheaters.
I can admit internet problems when I am playing on my mobile, bu will never accept this excuse when I ma playing on my desktop with a cable internet connection.
If someone here is pretending it never happened to them, it is better to be careful.
Anyway, I have a suggestion for you: Block them all!
If I am playing someone and I am disconnected, be sure, I will block them.
Hilarious is reading Chess.com stating that there are very few cheaters...
My block list is huge by now.
Brgds.
The majority of games I lost was due to being disconnected by cheaters.
It started to decrease when I started blocking them.
But anyway, they are like rats... As many I block, many more appear.

You've lost 1500+ blitz games, the "majority" of your losses were because cheaters disconnected, and yet somehow you still have some of your allowed 200 blocks available for more blocking? Something doesn't add up.
Yeah, unfortunately, just recently I learned how to block.
That's the reason I am leaving here my advice to all newcomers to Chess.com: If you suspect someone is cheating, just block.
I know innocents will pay, due to real connection issues, but they will not be many (If your browser get frozen during the game - block the cheater without a second thought!). On the other hand, cheaters will not find a place to hide, and maybe give up cheating - or they will not find someone to play with.
I still find cheaters, they are like rats multiplying in number, but I have had a lot of nice games played with real chess fans. Wins and losses that I am glad to have experienced.
yeah it's still going on alright. And I am not a sore loser. I played four one minute games against Liam_Matthew16 winning the first three easily. Then suddenly he tells me in the chat box..Liam_Matthew16: i have a problem in my wifi.
I then lose this game as he is the one taking forever to move and yet it is my time that becomes expleted by massive jumps. Frustration levels very high indeed, I want this guy t be in front of me so I can stab him in the stromach Game of thrones wedding style...
