Vacation as a tool to delay opponents win

I won 1 game against a opponent and I may win second game.
her rating higher than mine by 200 points.
but now she is online and active still for that game she is on vacation.
Yep, happens all the time around here and has been the subject of dozens if not hundreds of complaints. Eventually the vacation time will run out though. Folks get their ego tied up in a game and just can't stand the idea of losing. Best to just be patient and be glad you don't have their sad little life.
If I was losing that bad, I’d go on vacation too.

She is around, and maybe play live games, but she is in vacation only for the daily games. This is possible and legal.

Player can take vacation from games, but are still allowed to access toe site.

I think that they are using a variation of the "dead man`s defence". To put it bluntly, such opponents are hoping that their opponents will literally die which would result in a time forfeiture win for the person with the losing position. A creepy yet legal strategy that is quite ridiculous when used in Vote Chess games but has a cold logic in individual games. I have actually won games in USCF correspondence tournaments in which I was on the verge of losing but trying hard to "swindle" a draw (albeit quite hard to do as opposed to OTB competitions). In these cases, my opponents had to withdraw from the tournaments due to health reasons. I know for a fact, "through the grapevine", that 2 of the 3 individuals in question actually did die a few months later and one fell into a coma and probably died soon after. I actually was on the verge of resigning one of those games. I did not purposely use the "dead man`s defence". It just worked out that way.

What time control do you play? 3 days or 3 years?

Use it to study, brush up on fine points, try a new opening or defense you've been considering, or make lots of notes on the current position, both player's pros and cons and how to take advantage *of* her weaknesses. I would think it should be technically possible to allow a player a certain number of vacation days per year, but they should apply to ALL the games they play against other players in the same period. Once the number of days per year are used games would continue and the clocks start ticking...
