@BoboTheFlyingSheep67 and I played two 10|0 games. Here are my thoughts.

You played well. You didn't make any obvious mistakes apart from dropping the pawn in the beginning.

You played ok until 16. b6. The game went downhill very quickly after that.

Well my games against Bobo had early Queen trades and were more positional. Positional advantages take a lot longer to convert than tactical advantages.

I've learned a lot so far watching your videos, but I would like to really develop my game to anticipate the player's moves at least three moves ahead. Any recommendations regarding that strategy?

Thank you,

John

Hey John, glad you've learned a lot.

Play long games. Daily games are best for learning because you can spend as much time as you want to figure out what your opponent is trying to do and to come up with a good strategy of your own. Always look for your opponent's best response to your candidate moves.

If you want to get better at calculating several moves ahead then spend a long time on difficult chess puzzles and try to figure everything out in your head before you make a single move.

It's like learning to play an instrument. You need to practice slowly at first and over time you can gradually play faster and faster. Grandmasters are able to play very well even in bullet because they've practiced good thinking habits in slow chess.

Really enjoyed both games. The annotations really helps me understand chess a whole lot better with big improvements in my games. Thanks a lot Richard!

I will follow your advice. I am playing some puzzles but overall if I follow your technique, I believe my skills will really improve. I will let you know how things go. Have a good day!

Hey would you mind playing against me? 10 min no increment

Sorry but I can't play everyone. I only plan to play a few of my chess.com friends. Other than that I mainly stick to vote chess and the occasional live tournament/team match.

When I was younger I used to always play gambits and sharp attacking chess because it was all I knew how to do. I hated positional chess because it seemed so dull and boring, haha. Now I really like positional chess because I understand it much better than I used to.

hi bobo

Hey bobo... to attack is good, but strong attack come from positional play? Strong but patient build up, then attack will succeed...

ok, i find it hard to find positional moves tho. I recently bought Aron Nimzowitsch's Mein System and i am trying to learn about positional play there
