Weird People

I KNOW you were agreeing with me...
[Most Annoying Zoolander Friend Voice]: Hell-ooo!
I was not being literal like someone could really laugh their posteriors off.
NOW who's paranoid? huh? who? huh? Admit it!
And of course the very next 'BAH!' post was aimed at anyone who took me seriously as they are the weirdest of the weird? What am I, CNN? No my facts are more accurate. (Make 'em up myself!)
What's an ffs? Is it crunchy, my precious?
Speaking of weird people, I am going through my games archive... WHAT WAS I THINKING?!?!?!?!?

How weird is it then to like being on the web, with lots of strangers who make you laugh, talking daft? Crazy people.

More weirdos:
- People who don't solve puzzles.
- People who don't play chess. (Why do they even log in?)
- People who don't solve chess puzzles.
- People who don't solve puzzles about chess.
- Anyone who tries to move their opponents pieces.
- and people who steal old fruit! (Get yer paws offa my dang-dirty grapes!)
And why does everyone post about weirdies but not about the great chess quotes I made up. Shoo! Skeedattle! Stop before this post reaches 100!
--------------------------------------------------
and this is weird, wierd, and wired too:

Anime is not weird! It rocks especially: Ai Yori Aoshi, Berserk, Bubblegum Crisis, Comic Party, Cowboy Bebop, DNA², El Hazard, Elfen Lied, Escaflowne, Excel Saga, Full Metal Alchemist, Fushigi Yuugi, Gantz, Gungrave, Hand Maid May, Ikkitousen, Inu Yasha, Irresponsible Captain Tylor, Kaleido Star (my second favorite), Kodocha (SANA-CHAN!!! er... my favorite even if it is different from the manga and they didn't do the 'lost-smile' story line.), Last Exhile, Lost Universe, Love Hina, Magic User's Club, Neon Genesis: Evangelion, Noir, Now and Then, Here and There, Onegai Teacher and Onegai Twins, Outlaw Star, Patlabor, Saber Marionettes, Samurai Champloo, Serial Experiments Lain, Slayers and Slayers Next and Slayers Try, Teen Titans (looks like anime to me), Tenchi Muyo Ova and Tenchi Universe, Tenjou Tenge, Trigun, Trouble Chocolate... but then the other dozens of series I own are not so hot. ^_^
Art school is worse than weird, its insane. How do you teach art? Besides after one look at my portfolio they wouldn't let me in (#$%#^$ elitists!) What's wrong with stick figures?!
And don't get me started on RPGs. I've been thru more dungeons than Gary "Iron Rations" Gygaxxxx... and his ten foot pole too. Whose idea was it to stick a bunch of dark elves in a Giant module anyway? Besides I stopped playing after the DM decreased my charisma from running into a tree (@#$^ Boots of Speed).
Tequilla leads to bad moves, just ask Alekhine. that's what Euwe gave him.

is it frustration I detect..?
-didn't get laid for a long time I suppose... I feel sorry for you!
Its ok for you love...arn't you a porn star, or do you just share the same name?

Opening theory doesn't really change a lot. It's been 'get lots of pieces out fast' since the game was made. But I'll give you some kudos for good thinking. While the theories and principles don't change, per se, the way of implementing those ideas does.
You' re right. A lot of openings have come and gone. This opening is good... now 20 years later its useless... now another 20 years its good again. I'm thinking of the King's Gambit which dies and is born again every generation. But some moves have been almost universally condemned as poor in their quality. 1. g4 ... is one of these moves as a first move choice.
Here is an experiment I did a few years ago which anyone can duplicate:
- Acquire some chess software which can show several lines of thought and evaluation at once.
- Have it evaluate the starting position with NO opening books turned on.
- Let it run for a while, a few days.
Of the 20 possible opening moves, 1. g4 ... consistently ranks the lowest. This gives us a quantitative analysis of the moves rank with regards to the other moves.
Again, you are right in that the difference between the best first move and the last first move is not a lot (tenths to hundredths of a pawn depending on the chess engine used with a depth search of about 10/25).
But then there is another important factor. I hate that move. ^_^ It's as simple as that. And no amount of soap-box preaching will make me accept it or the people that use it. I am well within my rights (or is it my wrongs?) to have irrational judgements about a group of people who are quantitatively outside the norm.
I once went for three months never using the move g4 as a protest to its use! Not just as a first move but I NEVER moved g4 not even as Black.
And that goes for that fringe of humanity who actually eats vegetables too.
Doesn't White win the majority of games anyway?
1. f3 ... 2. Kf2 ... might likewise have a high winning percentage since it was only played by Alekhine after drinking sour milk.
