An Indian movie titled: The Chess Players
Thanks. I'm going to order it next from Netflix.
I noticed from your link that the director, Ray, had something to do with ET!
Are there others?

The Luzhin Defence is good, and worth watching (it's based on a Nabokov novel, and stars John Turturro - what more could you want?).
Also, the original Thomas Crown Affair with Steve McQueen and Faye Dunaway features a famous seductive chess scene.
Shakespeare's The Tempest has a scene in which Miranda and Ferdinand are revealed to be playing chess, symbolising their formal courtship, so it must be included in a film version.
What about Ronan Bennett's Zugzwang, the book? Anyone read that? It's pretty good, and it's also short, for those with attention spans of equal brevity.
I am wanting to see some good movies where chess is featured.
Now I have seen Searching for Bobby Fischer - and that wonderful movie by Ingmar Bergman : Seventh Seal where the knight plays chess with Death. Also I have heard about the Luzhin Defence but have not seen it.
Are there others? I don't mean where a chess set is sitting on a table or where there is a small scene showing two people playing chess, but one where playing chess is really important to the movie.
Anyone?
