What are teams about?
Teams are a good way to find others that share the same interests as you. The matches aren't anything special except they add a little more excitement to your game (with trying to win so your team does well).
The team games won't be much different from your other games, besides having a feel of community to go with it.
This site also has a fair number of teams/groups dedicated to improving your game. They're basically a a place to be social and play a few games.
Thanks. If I am looking for someone to play and give a short analysis of the game, would be the best place to go?
Any group based on improving would probably work. Just ask in the group for a volunteer that would be willing to play and then do an analysis.
Dan Heisman Learning Center is a group I was in a while back. It's a pretty good group for anyone looking to get better.
A good thing of the Teams or Groups are the Vote Chess games, since you can discuss with the team members about specific position, sometimes they will explain why they prefer a move over another and put some variations for you to see.
Socialista is absolutely right
Vote chess is one of the two main things I do on chess.com (other is online chess, usually from team matches)
I would recommend joining a group for improving skills. Also, there are some fun social groups.
Some of the large groups are for studying/playing openings (Sicilian), those can be very good to join if you want to learn about a specific opening.
Please help me understand teams -- what are they, what do they do, what happens when I join a team vs going it alone, what should I look for in finding the right team for me.
Thanks
