The Orthodox formation is certainly worth learning, since you can use it against several different White systems (Queen's Gambit, Catalan, Reti/Barcza System, Bird's Opening, etc).

He is 700ish at 5 minutes. Most of his opponents will have issues with the Kid.

I play d5 because I am a d4 player.

If you do play d5, then you need different options for Queen's Gambit and London.

KID is pretty universal.
