What are your rating goals for 2026?

It’s that time of year again, everyone! Those of you who are committed to chess to the same unhealthy degree as me…

1) how did 2025 go?

2) what’s the goals for 2026?

For me, I had a really good 2025 overall! I don’t play bullet unless I’m drunk, but for the ones I care more about I’ve done well. I hit 2000 for the first time in June, which was a goal that I didn’t think was realistic in January but hit either way!

I’ve maintained a solid blitz rating above my target, but have fallen just short of hitting 1800 blitz so far.

for 2026, it’d be very cool to hit 2100 and hopefully beyond, but I imagine it’ll continue to get harder as the player pool diminishes further. Blitz would be good to get the 1800, then hopefully beyond too! If I’m being super optimistic, I’d like to hit 2000 blitz in 2026.

Perhaps I start playing in 2026 again

1800 blitz

1600 rapid (going to be difficult knowing my terrible level but I will try to lock in and focus on rapid more)

1700 bullet (really far in the list of what I want to do in 2026)

That’s as good a goal as any!

Considering how inactive I'll probably be in terms of how many games I play, mine would be to help others get to 2000.

1000 maybe

same with 2025 goals, which i created last 2024 lol

goal was 2500 and i'm stuck at 2200-2300 (same on lichess). i know what i need to do but i'm too lazy/tired from work to fix my play.

chess goal suggestion for everyone: resist the urge to quit chess/life (for good) when experiencing tilt.

I hoped to get to 1000 by the end of this year. I definitely succeeded.

Maybe I'll get 1500 by the end of 2026. Seems a bit unrealistic, but then again, so did getting to 1000 at all, until I did.

These are very ambitious goals but I want next year to be the year I start getting close to titled. NM by 2027 is the ultimate goal

2000 rapid, and 2200 blitz & bullet. I also want to hit 2200 uscf by 2029
