I want to see how others are getting on with the above and compare online ratings with tactics and mentor ratings!
I'll show you mine if you show me yours!

My Chess Mentor
You can look it up.
you can see others chess mentor ratings? where? and tactics you can only see their current rating, not their best etc
chess mentor rating is based on something i do not understand. no matter how hard i try i can not lower it. tactics training is much more interesting in case of comparing with chess games.
My tactics is nearly 1850, live long chess - near 1550. hope it helps :)
F5F5F5 please post more comparing, that's hilarious.
@gumpty
My hat is off to you for your Tactics Trainer rating! Very impressive. I've only recently started spending significant amounts of time in there (so far I'm up to about 5 hours of training time), and for a while there I was fighting to stay above 1200!! I think I'm starting to learn how to play the system a little better though, and I recently hit the 1700 mark for the first time.
It's all about how you play the system. For instance, it's fascinating that my rating is about 600 lower than yours, while my "Passed" percentage is 54.2% over 660 attempts. The biggest lesson I've learned so far (and quite recently): Don't accept a result of 0%. If you can't get it fast, at least get it right, or otherwise your losses are going to cost you more than your wins can earn.
Chess mentor rating, don't have one. Tactics trainer, 1500-soemthing at the moment, 1634 or so at most
Wow! Look at all of those high ratings!
I vary between 1300-1700 (I know that sounds stupid, but I do)
There are some good days and bad days... So I guess I'd have to average it around 1400, maybe 1500?
Still working on getting chess mentor...
I don't dwell too much on my tactics trainer rating, it promotes bad habits. Like saccing queens when you don't see a move quickly enough. That may work in tactics trainer, but its completely suicidal in a real game!
I never guess moves as well, and always look for counterplay (this is the main reason I lose games. I throw myself upon the sword after finding a "good tactic" only to find out its quite defective!)

That is a totally wrong statement! Tactics trainer asks you to find the UNIQUE win in a position. Or, if there is no win, to find a draw. It is not guessing and most problems require the user to play a whole sequence of moves to prove his/her point. Sometimes this might not be possible, because of the existence of alternate winning moves (in such a case, you can always click "View Analysis and Source" to see how the problem would have continued).
In my opinion, the tactics trainer here is BY FAR the best tactics trainer available and a wonderful tool to improve. It is probably useless if you are >2600 ELO. In fact, I cannot think of a better tool for improving the playing strength. And no, I did not solve 10 problems in tactics trainer and began to give advice :) I solved ~ 10 000.
i love tactics trainer, its as much fun as playing a game....one thing i will say though, is that you can have huge ratings swings....i can drop 300 points in 1 session if im tired! definetly something to do when you are alert :-)
