How do u figure out what your chess weakness are so that u know what to improve

Get a coach and they'll put their finger on it (...on the mistakes, that is)

At first for me, it was middlegame plannning.  Now its actually having to develop an opening repertoire.  But most important is that chess stays being fun.  As soon as it becomes more work than fun, i cut back on the studying.

I think for me trouble visualizing in middlegames 8 moves ahead unless it's a direct forcing sequence, in a quieter position with so many possibilities things get hazy, though even here I rarely ever have retained image errors (i.e., a piece exchanged off in your mind is stuck in its current board position somehow)

I have some opening issues and problems against King's Indian Defense formations (though have less trouble against KIAs oddly since I play 1...Nf6 principles of flexibility and development, ...e6 if g3 since a declaration to fianchetto was made so I take the time to imbalance the structure slightly and then play ...c5) so I'll review the appropriate chapter in Pawn Structure Chess.

Also, always assume rook endgames are a weakness since one can never work in this department enough!  I don't care if you're Capablanca or even Carlsen.
