"Hijab good. Hijab is the flag of Muslim allies," you say?

It wasn't that long ago that the swastika was also the flag of Muslim allies.

People forget.

People also conflate - I'm sure I missed that. What I didn't miss was the US and EU (Merkel aside) throwing their support behind a fascist coup in Ukraine.

Perhaps you missed that?

When I was young, women always wore a hat or scarf on their heads in church. So why is a big deal that devout women from another faith do somthing similar?

Because those women in church probably weren't forced to do it whereas in this situation it is law. Like I said, it's a can of worms...

What is about American liberals that makes them so bloody holier-than-thou?

Why can't you just accept that other countries have different social orders in place and leave them alone?

I didn't give an opinion at all. I'm just telling you which way the wind is blowing. As long as people see certain "social orders" of the world as unjust they will pursue "justice." After all, things like slavery and racism were made legal by law in some countries in the past and those laws or "social orders" were indeed scrutinized. There are people that see this situation the same way. Take that as you will.

Yup. The West don't care what religion or skin colour they have in that country, but how much oil or other natural resources they have.  And of course to be on the border of Russia as they're doing everywhere else that they can. Sadly some people get sucked into the 'us' and 'them' nonesense.

Different world.

The other thing 2Q1C is that women were actually forced to wear a hijab by the powers that be after the 1979 revolution. Before then, Iran actually went through a women's rights movement which actually gave women legislative power, more freedom, etc. So before 1979 Iran was a much different place. Though still muslim, the women still had the choice if they wanted to wear a hijab or not. The revolution took away the rights from the women, not the religion itself.

Hijab is good. Because it reduces the chance of attraction and rape.

Only if your country is full of sociopathic rapists.

If I saw a naked women walking down the street every day for the rest of my life, I still wouldn't rape anyone. I guarantee it.

yeah, that is true, but what I'm sure you don't hear in the liberal media (that has twisted and pervaded the minds of the masses around the world) is that Trump was on record as being against the Iraq war....and they portray him as some kind of a war monger to help get votes....that is all it is...buying votes.....the control of the media is in the hands of a group of billionaires headed by George Soros and fascist New World Order globalists that want to make us all their slaves.....there used to be a large middle class in the U.S. and we have been sold down the river....I'm old enough to remember the truth, but when my generation dies out God help you

"This whole argument is stupid. If you ask any women in Iran if they are oppressed by wearing the hijab they will say no as it is their culture."

OH REALLY?

2Q1C, Iranian women are risking prison by taking pictures of themselves in public WITHOUT A DAMN HIJAB. It's a resistance movement to the fascists that you are completely ignorant of.

Iranians are also requesting visiting westerners to REFUSE to wear a hijab to help them in their fight against oppression.

Just because you're happy to bend over doesn't mean everybody else is.

He was for the war in the beginning, and has repeatedly lied about being against it from the beginning. You can listen to the audio online any time you wish to google for it (he said it on the Howard Stern show).

Maybe he was against it later, which is fine, but what drives me crazy about Trump is he lies for no reason. He lies when it's not even important to lie. A few days ago I was sure something was true... but when I read Trump said it was true I realized I was likely mistaken.

The media sucks, sure, but the bigger issue is the president is a total joke.

If they tried to make everyone in the UK wear a hijab then yes I would have a problem. They aren't though. They're asking females to respect the laws of the land just like I'm sure you expect Muslims to do in America

Wearing hats (or scarfs) and respecting laws is trivially non-controversial.

The controversy is what it (may) represent. The bigger picture is females as 2nd class citizens.

The argument basically boils down to what kind of imperfect world do you want to live in??? One where there is freedom of press, freedom of religion, economic freedom, etc (i.e. Democracy, U.K.,U.S.,Germany, etc...).....or a fascist world where all the money and power is concentrated in the hands of few individuals (i.e. Iran, Soviet Union, etc...). Both are imperfect, but I have the freedom to choose the latter, and that may be gone soon.

2Q1C, that's where you draw the line in the sand?

When the muslims demand that all Englishwomen must wear a hijab while out in public?

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA

And of course, strict islamic rule was preferred by the US to the kind of society that the overthrow of the Shah would possibly have brought.

'US had extensive contact with Ayatollah Khomeini before Iran revolution'.

And who was it who installed the Shah in the first place?  The CIA of course.

I'm surprised that you sound pro-Trump, but at the same time are afraid of freedoms being eroded by fascists.

(Sorry urk, this topic is turning really political)

2Q1C, you realize that while you're calling for complete respect the Islamists want you personally DEAD for your sins?
Muhammed commands it.

You think they care about your generous liberalism further than it benefits them?

Why are you so welcoming?

Who are you to say what the hijab does or doesn't represent though?

I'm not saying anything either way, and even if I were, I don't have to be right for the controversy to have legitimacy. The controversy arises only because people disagree about what it represents, not because it's definitely repression of females. Or in other words, who is anyone to say what it represents. No one says, they can debate it though.

I didn't vote for Trump and I was demonstrating in the streets against Bush's stupid and illegal invasion of Iraq while most of you pansies were too busy playing videogames.
