I hate 'em both. The bishop wears a silly hat...and the knight always reminds me of The Godfather. Besides, they're both wimps compared to the really big guns (why do you think they call 'em minor pieces anyway?).

I like your sense of humor.

I like the knight, because it can jump and fork without being counterattacked.

I like the bishops, pinning and skewering is so much fun. :3

It largely depends on whether you like playing open or closed positions. Closed positions tend to favour knights, open ones bishops. Look at some games by Petrosian if you want to see truly masterful use of knights

But that can be doone with other pieces.

I like both, as usual it depends on the position. People generally do anything to get the 2 bishops, but they're a bit overrated IMO. In blitz, a knight scores more points though :)

I think they're about equal.

I'll exchange a Knight for a Bishop or vice versin a heart beat anytime to improve my game.  But the Knight fascinantes me the most.

Both have their uses. Depends on the specific position, it's an impossible question to answer in the abstract. In a few positions, knights and/or bishops can even be stronger than rooks.

I like better knights better than bishops. Thats why better knights are the best!

It depends on position, but i never think during the game like "hey it is my bishop i cant exchanche him" ...

I was raised orthodox, so I'll have to go with bishops.

bishops rule in the open position knights rule in the closed position more than the queen knight + queen are considered better than bishop + queen when attacking a king

Knights are better with squares to stay on, while bishops are better in an open endgame

bishops are better

Avatar of bobbyDK

until I practiced a lot with Tactics trainer I didn't realize how strong a bishop is. they really control a lot of empty space and open some tactics.

I cannot decide what I prefer any more and like manikcharan pointet out there is situations there knights are better.

some prefer a bishop pair but sometimes I like to have a Bishop and a knight because they can work together in harmony.

I usually exchange my Knight for a Bishop, and avoid losing a Bishop for a Knight. I prefer my open games, and a Bishop pair is plain destructive. Of course, there are certainly a decent amount of situations where a Knight is better, but I tend to avoid them unconciously.

we are only talking about knights and bishops, knights can't skewer or pin

You're right.  I got off track.  My wife says I have a one track mind, well this time she is wrong.
