My USCF rating totally sucks.
By comparison, my C.c rating is far more respectable.
But neither is as high as they're going to be.

Same with me. I started in July 08, and my rating shot up to like 1750, when I know there is no way I can be that high. haven't yet done any OTB tournaments, but I will be curious to see how a USCF or FIDE rating compares to Chess.com.
Looks to me that Chess.com's rating is higher than what it should be, but then I do not have any solutions to bring to the table to change that (my rating shot up because 2 or 3 high ranked people lost on time against me).
So back to the topic, yes I do feel over-rated
Im on 1830 fide I feel I play for at least the 2000 but I do loose some games to weaker 1700 rated players even winning or drawing against most 2000/1900 players I face, if Iam able to play more classic games I hope to improve soon we can always hope :)
My rating has been affected by spontaneous disconnections. Whether a problem with my isp or something more 'nefarious', it sucks when it happens.
yea i agree. my rating may be 50-100 points too high. I am probably a solid 1250. but what does it really mean anyway?
My rating is ok. But it is not my destination, i have goals to achieve so my current rating is irrelevant to me overall. Continuing to Improve my skills will increase my rating to what I'm truly after.
I mainly use it as a guide as to how strong an opponent I "should" be playing. About 150 points +/- seems about right. Hasn't stopped me from letting my aspirations get ahead of my abilities at times though
I've been hovering in the low-to-mid 1400s. I finished the 1400-1600 "2nd chess.com quick knockouts" 4th of 6 in my group, and I was the lowest rated by quite a bit. I'm not saying this to brag, but to say don't be intimidated by those rated higher than you! I'm in the Ruy lopez tournament too, and I haven't studied the ruy very much. But I'll try my darndest. The worst that could happen is that you'll slip back down into your "more accurate" rating and you will have learned a thing or two about chess.

You're right. I've already made my decision to play, if my choice, in the 1801+ one. I'm always looking for the challenge and, well, here it is. I aim to be in the middle of the group. We'll see what happens; it's bound to be a great tournament.
the highest in my life playing chess is 1823..but now my rating decreased to 1585..no improvement lately..
mylizana, I'm guessing your peak was in the beginning then.
I'm overrated.
My rating for the moment is 1561. That is way to high for me. My normal rating is 1400?
Well i started and look at the rating all the time, only to see if i am improving.
The first three weeks i climb to 1331 what felt nice, after i droped down 100 points due of a tournament lost 21 out of 22 matches with all stronger players. What i noticed that all look to ratting if it's correct or not, but if we al use the same calculations the rating must be correct for this site at least, I think that's why there are different rating methodes.
At least my goal is to get better and having fun.
With the upcoming Ruy Lopez Tournament, I am a little concerned. My rating as of now is 1807, meaning that I will be in the 1801-2000 tournament instead of where I, at least in my mind, rightfully belong: the 1601-1800 one.
No more than a two months ago I was flying around the low 1600s and now my rating has shot over 1800. I know I've progressively gotten better as time has gone by, but never this quickly. The only thing I've changed to match my ratings' change is this technique: if I can't see a decent move, I leave the game waiting for days and days til I see something satisfying. But still, I see my rating too high. I certainly don't feel like an 1800 rated player.
How do you feel about your own rating?
