im playing black, start wasn't anything eventful but i managed to gain an edge and a few tempi. Started to gain momentum to a 4 point advantage according to the analyse but then the opponent "slipt" in his words and immediately requested a draw, then i said to rematch afterwards and to play on. His reply was "???" and !??!", A few more moves after playing on he resigned and declined the rematch. Am i in the wrong here?

In one word NO.

Ppl r responsible for their own mouse moves and are not entitled to a draw for a mouse slip. I once had a guy offer me a draw after a mistake and said that its just online games and a win means nothing so I should take the draw.

I thought if its meaningless why do you care about losing. Anyway I said I will give him one rematch if he wanted, but no draws.

So he said enjoy the clock or something and I said sure thx for the easiest win ever. I mean if you dont even have to move to win, thats a rather easy win in chess.

So then he started moving and got mated. Don't remember if he asked for a rematch, but I am sure after that kind of behavior towards the end, wouldnt have accepted even if he did.

I personally figured you meant in one word No, and later elaborated, after stating that in one word the answer is NO.... I didn't think anything of it. I don't think Ghost is to be taken seriously here though, as I think he is just poking a little fun just to add humor to the mix.

Every once in a while you come across a guy who wants you to accept a draw after a mouse slip, when 9 times out of ten, most people on this site who mouse slip do nothing but hit the resign button.  I for one do not accept draws after someone claims a mouse slip simply because I do not ask for draws after I mouse slip and that would artificially lower my rating, however, after giving much thought, I figure that these people who mouse slip and expect you to accept a draw are not very numerous, so in my opinion, and experience, there aren't too many idiots out there.  I call them idiots because they don't know that most people who mouse slip just hit the resign button, and it would be foolish to allow them a draw when they themselves would have mouse slipped they would have just resigned, it just wouldn't be fair play.  In my view people who think this way, who believe that one must accept a draw after they allegedly mouse slip, are living in their own world, because, as I said, 9 times out of ten, most people, when they mouse slip, just hit the resign button, so why then do they have to go and give their competition special treatment?

It's funny how they think that causes their opponents to wait out the time is punishment for not accepting a draw when all their opponent has to do is just hit the minimize button and go to youtube and watch chess learning videos while their idiot competition decided to be a poor sport.  You think they will be distracted from the win?  No, when it is their turn they will hear a noise telling them to come back to the game so it will alert them to come back.  To this day, I do not understand how someone can be so stupid, but I digress.

I recall an instance where someone accused me of cheating and immediately stopped moving.  After 5 minutes or so he decided that he had chances to win so he started moving again, but I countered and won.

I've heard 10's of 20's of excuses on why someone lost, and to this day I never give an excuse for losing, I just simply let my game do the talking.

In the age of computer cheats I know that isn't always possible, though, I end, by saying that at the end of the day, the honest chess player, will be a lot stronger than the average cheat, in an OTB tournament, and that's all that matters.  They are only cheating themselves.  Also, I believe honest chess players are the ones having all the fun, and the cheats, are just waiting for the day to get caught.

I added that bit about cheaters because I saw a parallel of how people who think you are cheating will also stop moving to "punish" you, as if that does something????  If I didn't have enough time to play a 15|10 minute game I wouldn't have played a 15|10 minute game.... so, who's being punished here...??? I can just x out of the window and watch youtube, and when I get back after I hear the alert, I can pick up where I left off?????

Anyway, that is my take on people who insist on a draw when they allegedly mouse slip.  I'm sure there are people that would call me stupid for saying that, despite the fact that I think these mouse slipper ilk are stupid, but to each to their own opinion.  Have a nice day!

I would like to add before I go to the chess.com staff that maybe perhaps some kind of system should be in place to stop people from outright trolling or blabbing on about something when they have no point whatsoever. I remember a time when I was trolled by multiple people when I was just merely asking an innocent honest question, and some people even resorted to spam, spamming what they "thought" about me as a "sound reasoned claim."  I see that these forums are moderated when someone likes to pretend they are someone they are not, and make a joke about a controversial topic using fallacious reasoning hoping that no one catches it in hopes to get opposing views. (remember 2Q1C..?)  And also chess.com stops all mention of other competitor sites right when they come out.  It's apparent to me that chess.com is lazy, they let a lot of people post fluff or filth without not backing or support in any way and just let it go.  Why not censor those type of people like they censor trolls or other people who do not conform to the rules.  Add rules to the mod list.  Don't let people post useless crap in the general chat when they ask the same question over and over again, "Will I get better at chess?"  Don't let people get away with saying garbage.  Is that too much to ask?
