"little chess partner"
http://www.chess.com/play/computer.html
Not to mention proprietary and very difficult if not impossible to integrate with. I have to think it's something else as well.
I'm not sure what you mean by "computer workout". LittleChessPartner has now over 2000 rating and proprietary is no problem, LokaSoft should be willing to license it to Chess.com. About integration, nothing easier, since it is a Java program.

And because LittleChessPartner is a Java chess program, Chess.com isn't using it in V3. Java-in-the-browser is now the kiss of death in computer security.
A few months ago I drilled down through some menus and ended up on a Stockfish screen. Doesn't mean that's what they're still using, but it's probably a good guess.
Escherehcs, I understand your point, but then maybe you know what run in browser technology uses V3?
Just wanted to know what is the name of the computer chess.com uses for computer workout.
