So I was playing chess with this random person, they made only about 2 moves which were NOT made with the king. It was super confusing, it was like they didn't know they could... move other pieces? Does anyone know why this happened?

Crazy that you don't know castling….
Avatar of Your_Local_Chicken

What? No I mean my opponent literally only moved their king, no other pieces, throughout the entire game. And of course I know what castling is lol I literally did it in the game.

Did you even LOOK at the board?

Oh, I see, very funny!

If you're not going to be helpful then respectfully please go away, it was a valid question

Nice and lovely blunderfest from both sides.

Also I was testing to see whether they would move other pieces, as moving only the king is a tactic I've never encountered before

Maybe because it isn't a 'tactic' at all :/

All ways of playing are a tactic

It's just a matter of whether they are good

No...a tactic is a series of moves that helps you gain advantage by winning material, forced moves, etc. I assure you moving your king around for absolutely no reason, as in the game you attached, isn't a tactic.

You're describing a good tactic there. My point exactly. Also if you just came here to be pedantic you might as well answer my inital question!

My motto is—if you move you lose. Moving just the king is brilliant and eliminates all those other pesky blunders. I might try it next game. Thanks for the brilliant suggestion!

yeah maybe they thought they are completely lost and tried to go for a stalemate lol

Damn, I didn’t know anyone actually played chess with the 3d pieces!

Possible answer: They were going for stalemate somehow.
Realistic answer: They were on smth before the game.

Did you even look at the game.
