What happens if you resign in a game?

Do you get a warning? or do you get banned, or something? I'm not sure and I'm scared to find out by trying it.

Btw the chance of me quitting the game are pretty low. I don't wanna ruin it for my opponent, I'm just curious.

Depends on the situation.

If you intentionally resign on the first move every single time, a warning may be issued.

But if you resign because you are in a losing position or extremely low time with a low chance of comeback, then resigning is perfectly acceptable (and it's in fact sportsmanlike to do so).

Resigning is a completely normal part of chess.

Nothing bad happens. Resigning is completely normal and even expected at higher ratings. Maybe when you're just starting it doesn't make much sense to resign since your opponent could easily blunder right back, but at higher ratings, being a queen down or something and playing on instead of resigning is considered bad form and somewhat frowned upon

Huh, that's interesting that it's a good thing. Thanks for the help

I think you can be taken out and shot by the Gestapo, in some cases. But normally they just give you a pat on the back and tell you to try harder next time.
