You can't really match a rating to an age.

There are 50-year-old 800-rated players, and there are 12-year-old Grandmasters.

This. An “average” of any age would default to somewhere around 800.

Which means you're not especially talented at Chess. Or maybe my perception is warped due to me being more innately talented than you ... all that certainly makes me sound like a braggart and an a$$, but you had to ask. Paradoxically, I'd be a lot less honest with you if I knew you in person.
