I have seen in a sporting contest a friendly game being called off by the referee half way through the game to prevent things becoming a nasty fight.
It was a Rugby Match, and somehow, some rough play entered into things. The referee did not want to have things become bad enough to have to send anyone off, as it would have meant he would have to file a report, with resulting bad publicity.
All team matches are competitive. Every time I play for one of my teams I play to win. I never consider ANY team match to be friendly. Only when I play against my chess friends do I consider myself to be playing in a friendly. Then I play and chat a lot. When it's a team match I do not chat other than to say Good luck at the start or well played/good game at the end.
Do define & describe a friendly team match.
Is it unrated ?
Is there no money involved ?
Is it between friend-groups ?
Is it between admin friends ?
What's the opposite ?
Can a double-rated-team match (accepted from the open challenge) be considered as friendly ?
How about when the opponenting admin removes & replaces 7/14 (50%) of their roster just before 16-Pairs Auto-Start, and the opponenting Roster is already full (16/16) and admin offline.

Can a friendly match become unfriendly ? Hostile ?
How ?
Or is the term "friendly match" only the myth ?
