I am playing lots of vote chess and like it.  But often I am invited to play a team match and declined because I wasn't sure how it works. Could someone enlighten me?

Team matches are when two teams challenge each other to a match. You will be paired up with your opponent and play a certain number of games with him/her. Each game you win, you win a point for your team. If you lose, you won't get any points. At the end, the team with the most points is the winner!

Example:

Chess.com's biggest group

Chess Gangsters

WINNER! = 4   = 0
  Eventhorizon (2279) 2 view | view 0 TheSteadyHand (1611)
  protector (1928) 2 view | view 0 gimmewuchagot (1581)

Nearly every team plays matches like this against one another for fun, and to gain more match points for thier team!

Hope this helps!

I am unclear on a few points. First, is a player expected to play many games simultaneously, or is it just one? (Or is this number of games specified in the match details ahead of time?) Second, how many times would I play the same opponent in the match (or is this specified beforehand)? By extension, would I necessarily play the same opponent each time?

Normally you will only play 2 games against one opponent, one with white and one with black.
