You can never count on chess prodigies until they actually prove it as an adult. Plenty of players there's been so much hype about, have had the trajectory of Fischer or Kasparov or maybe even Carlsen and turned into just an "also ran" in the end. In modern times it's easier to get good earlier in life. It's possible also to "hack" the rating system a little by playing overrated players.

So far in this tournament, he's earned over $30,000 USD - from a week and a half of playing just 1 game per day.

That's nearly $3,000 a day he's made, just for playing a single 3-hour game each day.
