What is an "engine cheat"?

Someone just called me an "engine cheat" after a game.  What does this mean?

it's an online game! - how else am I supposed to play??   (bad joke - sorry)

I guess that means that there's a plug-in that can read the game and come up with the best moves?

I looked at the game in question. very very hard to conclude that an engine was used. you just played a poor sport that is all.

this is all news to me.  I didn't realize that you could look at my games or figure out which one I was called out on.  Thanks for the feedback!
