true, but not what i am looking for. but do NOT be sad, this can be helpful.
Centipawns?

Centipawns are Pawns with hundreds of little legs. They are a bit creepy.
Don't ask about Millipawns. They are creepy squared.

On the plus side, it is a fun word which always makes me think of a big shrimp with lots of little feet.
Those are Centiprawns.

The result of a lab experiment gone wrong, the first centipawn was the product of a standard wooden chess pawn being inadvertently fused with a centipede during a matter transfer test (think, The Fly). This mutated chess piece/insect escaped the lab and procreated and thus we have centipawns.

... during a matter transfer test (think, The Fly).
I teleported home last night
With Tom and Sid and Meg
Tom stole Maggie's heart away
And I got Sidney's leg.

Milli Vanilli Pawns.
Pawns which appear to be well placed but are then undermined and their weakness exposed?

ii still don't get it. I'm not a computer
# being sarcastic: Ha ha. # not being sarcastic: i don't get it either

Let's say you start a one-day business about buying and selling stuff. You should be aware of how much money you had at the beginning, how much by the end of the day, and accurately determine if you won or lost money.
In chess, humans use general or concrete evaluation of the present and possible positions, based mainly on piece activity, material, time, space and pawn structures, as to determine the available (or potential) plans for both sides, their threatening strength, who can carry his faster, and so on. An example: "By making that move I win a Rook and threaten mate in two... but the pieces used to take the rival's Rook were necessary to defend my King, and at the end of the line my rival has a mate in one and I have no means to stop it. Then I should not capture that Rook".
That said, not all evaluations can be concrete, becoming more a probability of good and effective plans showing up. In such cases, we use "a little better", "an edge", "better", "decisive advantage", etc.
Following that line of thought, "centipawns" is the term used by chess software to assess a position and compare it with others, as to determine if it's good business to follow a line. It's not really related to a pawn unless one side has an extra pawn and all the pieces are on the starting positions (meaning no piece activity).
Centipawns can be confusing when, for example, one side has an extra piece yet is evaluated as -3.0. But this is because the engine has "seen" a plan that gives an almost certainty of a non–stoppable initiative. After all, position evaluations are about comparing the plans available for both sides.
