harry the h pawn
What is En passant?
harry the h pawn
Oh, really!?
well not really, all pawns are worth same no matter file
The thread topic is on en passant...
...but the ongoing discussion is about each player's favourite pawn?
My favorite pawn is the one that is able to become a queen
but what if that stalemates

Did you know En passant before?
Can You Explain more about it here? So others can learn more too!
Which pawn is your favorite. Example: My favorite is the E pawn. Why? It controls the center and I have more tactics using that pawn. Well, what's yours?
It sounds made-up to me.

My favorite pawn is the one that is able to become a queen
Yes: those on the 7th row (when you're white). I also prefer these. Actually, more often those closer to the border (a- and h-) than those in the center (who live more dangerously), I believe.
But indeed, no word about en passant. OTOH, why should there be a discussion about? It's part of the rules, and IMO less weird than many other rules, many of which you probably even don't know (when winning on time with insufficient material isn't a win; the stalemate thing; the castling rules certainly; ... )
En passant just comes from the fact that the initial 2-step move (also an extremely weird rule!) is actually 2 moves in one, and when the second step is done "at the same time", then you can take as it it wasn't done, that's all.
