Alpha Zero is a combination of specialized tensor-based hardware and a special algorithm.  Using a specific process of training and comparative testing, AZ improves (much like learning), but unlike the previous methods, one cannot see the inner values of the AI, instead we can only see the output.  Before AZ humans adjusted specific values, but AZ adjusts its own values in secret...
