What is the sound of one hand clapping?

IQ isn't a particularly good guide to intelligence it's at best a rough indication.

Deadmanparty

IQ  score is the best single indicator of success.

So it may not be great, but better than all other ways to predict success.

Use this helpful equation
A= age
Y= years played
X is equal to IQ
X= A(-10000 + Y)

Hope this helped!
In all seriousness Chess is so popular I would say the IQ average is probably fairly normal.

Sadlone

This has just become a thread to spam numbers.   Bring race to 100 back. At least there was a method to the madness .

     I'm guessing you think the answer to the original question is "pretty low".

In my opinion IQ doesn't matter and doesn't determine your chess skills. My Elo rating is garbage but I consistently score high on IQ tests. Also please I need help I'm kinda new.

Consistently? How many have you taken? And why?

Out of pure boredom and curiosity, lol. I've probably taken like 20 or something but they are online so it is probably not to accurate. It's also kinda fun to solve the puzzles they give on IQ tests as well. It's usually been at least above average scores and usually around 120-140.

Yeah, lol I want to take a real one if only it didn't cost money.

Based on reading the forums and looking at chess games, I’d say the average IQ must be a little above 90.

There is no publicly available data on the average IQ of players on chess.com. IQ is not typically measured or reported in online gaming platforms, and even if it were, it would not necessarily be a reliable indicator of a player's chess ability or intelligence. Chess skill is determined by a variety of factors, including experience, training, practice, and natural ability, and cannot be reduced to a single number like IQ.

I completely agree.

Use the definition of IQ, the highest grade level is 21 (higher doctorate) which counts as 27 years old mental age. So IQ = 100 × Mental Age ÷ Biological Age. Everyone over 27 years old has an IQ below 100 by definition!

Everyone in the forums claims they are above average, most by more than one standard deviation. But, the average rating on this site is substantially below average. We might infer that a high IQ makes you terrible at chess.
