It gives your brain a workout, it's fun(for me), it makes you understand your mistakes and not make them in other games and then idk

Its a sport that is NOT boring, like most sports are (to me, anyway).

You can just do it online, too, so theres no hardship to find others to play with you.

At my age (50+) it help keeping the brain healthy.

If you are really good, you can make a career out of it. Is that a benefit ? I dont know.

Yes chess is a sport.

If you make professional chessplayers wear heartbeat monitors, their heartbeats go up, often over 100, sometimes 130, in some cases up to 180.

People have died of stress playing chess.

And all top chessplayers are in good health. Otherwise they would not be able to stay fully concentrated for hours.
