Yeah, speed arenas give higher trophies per hour. Good job.
If you're interested in promotion then you can minimize the work required by staying near the lowest rank needed to promote.
Other finesses are semi-legal to illegal like sandbagging and playing simuls.

Yes, bullet arena is probably the way.
It is faster to win 3 bullet than 1 blitz.
It is faster to win 5 bullet than 1 rapid.
Arena is a bonus.
