Let's just say that your 2200 chess.com blitz rating is useless in determining how close, or how far you are, from attaining an FM title. Playing OTB tournaments is the only way. Everything else is just a mere speculation.
What is the rough(online blitz) rating you need to have, to be a contender for a FM title ?

This guy is a FIDE master, and his blitz rating is only 1735.
Where did you see 1735 number from?

I would think that if you go over 2300 here on this site, and manage to maintain it over long period, you should have pretty good chances of being FM. If you look at the chess.com rating list for Iceland, you will see there aren't many FMs below 2300:https://www.chess.com/leaderboard/live?country=IS
Thx. Good answer straight to the point. From an actual FM !
I'm talking about online blitz ratings on chess.com.
I know blitz doesn't matter much, especially online ratings, OTB is completely different, especially classical games etc......... I'm very much aware of all this.
BUT still there must be some rough rating range , where after obtaining it you most likely have the strength or a good chances of becoming FM OTB.
OF COURSE 2700, 2800, 2900 blitz ratings in here and you can achieve FM easily if you are not already, so no need to talk about that. Also 1000, 1100, 1200 and you can just dream about it , also very obvious. So as my above example you can see even it's online ratings and yes just blitz , but they still matter more or less.
So what rating or rating range you need to have to have realistic chances of becoming FM or at least fight for the title with pride.
