What is the rough translation from online ratings to OTB ratings?

Hey y’all I was wondering if anyone has any resources of what the average rating difference was between online and OTB ratings? I’ve been trying to figure out what my actually OTB is as I’ve only played 1 tournament but, can’t seem to find many resources online.

Notice the +/- meaning it's guessing within 100 (and sometimes 200) points in either direction.

If you’re an online sweat subtract 200. If you don’t play online much or only play online occasionally add 100-200

That seems to sound about right

The uscf/chess.com article doesn’t make clear what your chess.com blitz is compared to, otb blitz or otb classic

My classic otb has been in the 1600’s for many years, my chess.com blitz is currently 1250.

Otb regular would be more accurate since it’s more accessible to people, so I’d assume that’s what it is. My otb blitz is 1599, contrasts a bit to my regular (1869)

Well then at least in my case the ratings are way off. I can’t remember the last time I was even paired lip with 1200 player in otb classic.

I agree with @B1ZMARK. I'm usually mid 1800s online and right now otb I'm 1688, and my friend has a 2300 online rating and is 2110 otb, so that sounds about right to me.

You took a 7 year break from playing blitz here, and have only played ~50 games since then. You're also old.

That's the nature of the beast... if there were an ez pz conversion formula everyone would know it by now.

One reason it's hard is because fking derps (like some people in this topic) cite inactive ratings.

"I'm 1500 USCF herp derp"

(but I haven't played in 10 years, just ignore that though)
